Now we are four.

This week Kast Architects is four years old. The time has flown by, due in no small part by being phenomenally busy, designing a number of wonderful projects for some incredible clients, working alongside a great many talented and enthusiastic consultants and contractors.

The success of our first house, Sea Edge in Downderry, and the exposure experienced by its publication in a number of national magazines, has led to a steady flow of similar commissions for high end coastal housing across the south west. With two new spectacular houses due for completion in the next couple of months we expect this trend to continue.

We have secured planning approval on two new low energy offices in Cornwall, one of which will be starting on site in early 2019. Both will have an exposed glulaminated timber frame and be sheathed in a highly insulated and air tight timber cassette system to ensure maximum comfort for their occupants. We secured planning approval for a Passivhaus in North Devon, two barn conversions in Cornwall, and two new oak framed houses in collaboration with Carpenter Oak. Also on the drawing board at the moment are five new houses and a chapel conversion, as well as a new university building. Meanwhile we continue to get our boots dirty with our 9 unit development at Karn Havos now well underway on site.

We have maintained an active role in guest tutoring and lecturing at Falmouth University’s School of Architecture, and in September welcomed one of their graduates as a full time employee at KAST. This recent growth has also led to a move to new premises, providing us with plenty of space for our co-workers and room to meet with our clients in more comfort.

As always, thank you to everyone for your support and best wishes.

Here’s to many more years to come.
