Community Consultation for Lanivet Affordable Housing

KAST Architects has been appointed by the Cornwall Community Land Trust to design 15 new low energy affordable homes in the village of Lanivet near Bodmin. The project has undergone extensive community consultation over the months, with the latest event being held last week in the village hall, and the CCLT has been working closely with the local housing working party to develop the scheme.

The proposed scheme will provide a mix of 1 bed, 2 bed and 3 bed houses, split between rentable property and those available to buy, based on discussions with Cornwall Council on housing need in the local area.

The houses have been grouped together in short terraces for thermal efficiency, while insulation levels and airtightness targets will far exceed building regulation requirements. The timber framed houses will be clad in a combination of natural slate and timber cladding and each house will have integrated bee bricks, swift boxes and bat roost spaces to support locally endangered wildlife.

Every effort has been made to create a place which fosters a sense of belonging with a unique and lasting appeal. The development will enhance net biodiversity on the site and allow residents to live and play in close proximity to nature.

A planning submission will be made in the spring of 2020.
