Treveric

Treveric is a contemporary north coast house in Constantine Bay, Cornwall, precisely arranged to maximise far-reaching views over Trevose Golf Club and the Atlantic Ocean. While the setting is relatively suburban in nature, it still falls within an area of outstanding natural beauty, requiring a sensitive approach in terms of scale, being respectful of the neighbouring houses and mindful of the choice of materials.

The design adopts a reverse level strategy to enable the main living spaces and master bedroom to benefit from far reaching views to the north Cornwall coastline, while the remaining ground floor bedrooms have direct access to the private courtyard gardens that surround the house.

The house is divided into two linear pitched roof wings, joined centrally by a flat roof glazed double height entrance lobby which brings natural light deep into the plan. A separate garage with an annex above provides additional accommodation for visiting friends and family.

The highly insulated and air-tight timber frame building is clad in Trebarwith Stone on the ground floor, providing a solid base to the building and reflecting the surrounding Cornish stone walls. The upper storey is clad in thermally modified pine while the roof is finished in reclaimed Delabole slate.
