Now we are 6

This week KAST Architects is six years old and what a year 2020 has been!

Lockdowns and global pandemics aside, we have been on site with a new primary school in the midlands, a headquarters office in west Cornwall, a 9 house development on the north coast and at least a half dozen other houses across the south west.

We have secured planning approval for a 400m2 contemporary dwelling in an AONB overlooking the Helford River, a cedar clad studio close to a scheduled ancient monument, a coastal replacement dwelling overlooking St Austell Bay and an oak framed house in a walled garden next to a Grade II manor house.

On the drawing board are three community led affordable housing schemes, a 700m2 house on the Lizard peninsular, a town-centre regeneration scheme, three further replacement dwellings, four extensions and a yoga studio.

Perhaps the highlights of the year were KAST being awarded the best Architect accolade for the design of Sylvania in Feock by Build It magazine, followed by a shortlisting in the British Homes Awards House of the Year, again for Sylvania, plus a shortlisting of Trenethick Barn for Built It magazine’s Best Self Build of the Year.

As always we are maintaining an active role in guest tutoring and lecturing at Falmouth University’s School of Architecture.

Thank you to our clients, consultants and contractors for their positivity and creativity.

Let’s see what 2021 has in store for us…
