BRE CICM at Bath

client: The BRE and University of Bath

value: £10 million

location: Bath

The Vision: To build a landmark ‘zero carbon’ building using state-of- the-art technologies and innovative construction materials. The building will not only enable research activities to expand, but will also send out a very strong message to the outside world that BRE CICM and the University of Bath 'walks the walk' as well as 'talks the talk' of sustainability.

The BRE CICM building will house research laboratories and workshops for use by research students and staff. In addition the building will house offices for staff and students, meeting and seminar rooms and an exhibition/lobby space. The building is expected to demonstrate application of some of the construction materials and technologies for which is known. These include: innovative timber engineering; advance fibre composites; low carbon renewable materials; stainless steel; low carbon concretes.
